Leaders come in every conceivable style and set of characteristics.  All can be remarkable successful if they understand and leverage their gifts constructively.

Leaders can fall prey to the ‘new thing’ the ‘shiny thing’ the so called new idea.  This may be positive or not so positive.

The question is; What are you REALLY looking for?  What you come up with is another new idea, that might bring some benefit, but is it a solution or a band-aid.

More important; if you keep adding Band-aids on top of Band-aids, might it make it more difficult to actually heal the wound.  Well intended actions leading to negative results.

Some Leaders become addicted to Complexity… always adding layers, processes, rules, policies and technologies that offer the promise of greatness yet don’t actually deliver.  In some cases, these added layers can be like pouring cement over the organization.  We don’t suggest that some structure is not necessary, but most readers will agree that they have seen this go too far.

So what to do?  If you have the spirit and courage, you can dismantle much of what is slowing your agility and costing you money.

Just this morning I got a contract that I am expected to sign in order to do a small Coaching Program that will likely amount to under $ 2,500.00.  Theoretically I should engage my lawyer in this process at a cost to the client of an additional $ 600.00.  While I understand the desire for legality, this little project is so benign that increasing the cost by 25% seem ridiculous.  Cement and cost.

Un-bundling businesses from their tons or rules, processes, policies, administrivia is a deliberate act of un-handcuffing good people so that they can accomplish great things.

It is a process of stripping away Complexity.  Complexity can be an addiction.  Simplicity is the rehab and recovery.
